The IDE interface is inherently limited in speed, so regardless of the original SSD speed, the performance will be limited to IDE transfer rates. Additionally, when replacing an original mechanical hard drive, note that mechanical drives typically consume only a few hundred mA. Computer power supplies for hard drives are generally designed to provide up to 1000 mA. Using a high-power SSD may result in insufficient power delivery, leading to issues such as failure to recognize the drive, system blue screens, crashes, or inability to format.
